Thoughts …

Ok … sitting here in my office thinking about the meeting yesterday. I didn’t know what to expect, other than I thought I would be behind due to my joining the group late, but as I reflect I feel pretty good about my knowledge of technology in the classroom. I certainly didn’t feel as if I would need to leave the group becuase I am an idiot and I was comforted in knowing that some of the other members were grappling with the question of how to integrate wikis, blogs, etc. into their classrooms as well. I like that there are a variety of disciplines represented in the PLC — English, foreign language, theatre ( the three actually represented at the meeting) but also social studies and math (I think), maybe more. I think that will help me to look beyond my limits of theatre and adopt and adapt others’ ideas. I am all over the idea of getting students to do small bites of work that they can do outside of class that I can check on my own time, freeing up valuable class time to cover topics in more depth or even add a few units (if I ever get that organized). I was really intrigued with the site Jody brought to the table … can’t remember the name but it was the one with the voice/sound clips. Really like the idea of putting a prompt/image on the site and having kids respond to it. Not sure how the DIPITY site would actually work without a lot of set up (coordinating a time for everyone to be online, etc.) OK … so, I am feeling much better about the whole thing and am actually excited about getting to work on putting some of this in place in my classroom … once I know what I am teaching that is … ARRGH!

Blogging and You

I know nothing about blogs.

I have no favorite blogs.

I have never read a blog.

My wife, Carissa, helped me set up this blog. I did, however, choose the background on my own.

As I am ignorant in this area, I am looking forward to seeing how I can incorporate blogging into my theatre and English classes.

Hello world!
